Committed to Your Safety, from First Chair to Last Run.
Skylands Alpine Patrol (E044) originally began as the Hidden Valley Ski Patrol. In 2013, Hidden Valley closed its doors, and for two years, the patrol persevered, despite no longer having a ski area to serve.
Though many members chose to either retire or join other patrols, the patrol’s dedication paid off when the National Winter Activity Center purchased the mountain and selected E044 as its official patrol. With that new beginning came immense changes and challenges, but through exceptional leadership and teamwork, E044 adapted to the transformation of the mountain from "Hidden Valley" to "Winter4Kids at the National Winter Activity Center."
This 'little patrol that could' not only survived but thrived, earning the Eastern Division’s Outstanding Small Alpine Patrol Award for the 2020/2021 ski season!
In December 2020, a new chapter began with the creation of the NWAC Nordic Ski Patrol (E403) to support the Center’s state-of-the-art Nordic Learning Center, located adjacent to the alpine mountain.
Though our Alpine (E044) and Nordic (E403) patrols have different numbers, we function as one big, happy patrol family, united in our mission to serve and support winter activities at the National Winter Activity Center.
